We diagnose the root cause (frame movement, hinge sag, paint buildup, or foundation settling) and make the right fix, not just a temporary trim.
Loose hinges are the most common cause of door problems — sticking, not latching, sagging, or rubbing at the top corner. We re-set loose screws with longer screws or wood filler plugs, replace worn hinges, and adjust three-way hinge position to bring the door back into plane. Most hinge repairs take under an hour.
When a door latch doesn't catch the strike plate, the fix is often just moving the strike plate slightly — not re-hanging the entire door. We chisel the mortise, reposition the plate, and test the latch engagement before we leave. If the door has shifted significantly in the frame, we address the underlying cause.
